Possibility of Marine Low-Speed Engine Piston Ring Wear Prediction during Real Operational Conditions

A long-stroke, low-speed marine engine is used as the prime mover of a ship. During operation such engines, excessive wear cylinder liners and piston rings frequently occurs. The breakdown or very dangerous for safety vessel, environment, people on board. reliability components an extremely important topic, it influences efficient vessel. Therefore, to prevent undesired events, essential that condition assessed. This paper presents research finds prediction models rate ring wear. compiled are verified using verification tests. can be implemented evaluate tendency wear, quality liner lubrication. Our findings will help obtain required optimal rates, maintain good operational engine, reduce costs maintenance, total consumption lubricating oil emission noxious substances into atmosphere. All mentioned benefits related reduction in ship’s directly energy efficiency.
